Handel House media partnership with BBC Radio 3

Handel House Museum and BBC Radio 3 worked in partnership to celebrate Handel's life and music in 2009, with special programmes broadcast on BBC Radio 3 throughout the year.

The first complete cycle of forty-two Handel's operas was broadcast every Thursday on Afternoon on 3

  • The Essay Series: The Great and Good Mr Handel, every night from 14 to 18 December at 11pm.

Previous Highlights:

  • Featured Composer of the Week from 13 April
  • A week of in-depth programming from 13 April to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Handel's death on 14 April 1759. This will include a recording of Handel's Eight Great Harpsichord Suites, performed in Handel's house by renowned harpsichordist Laurence Cummings and a live broadcast from Handel House on 19 April.

Handel House Museum at 25 Brook Street will be at the heart of the Handel celebrations this year. This landmark address is where Handel lived for thirty-six years of his life and where he died on 14 April 1759.
